An old pool that's costing money and never gets used can become yard again. We break it out, haul off the concrete, backfill, compact and grade the space.
The pool is drained, holes are punched in the floor so water can drain through, the top section of the walls is broken out, and the shell is filled with clean fill and compacted. It costs less, but the rest of the shell stays in the ground, which some buyers and builders ask about later.
All concrete, gunite, steel and plumbing are broken out and hauled away, then the hole is backfilled and compacted in layers. It costs more, but the ground can be built on later and there's nothing left to disclose.

Once the space is filled and graded, it's ready for new sod, a patio or a garden. Need the grade fixed so water doesn't sit where the pool was? See grading and drainage.
Pool demolition usually needs a city permit. Check with the City of Arlington for current rules. We'll talk through what's needed at the estimate.
Most residential pools are removed and filled in about three to five working days, plus time for permits.
After a full removal with compacted fill, usually yes. After a partial removal, an engineer may need to approve building over it.
